Patricia Hogan

August 29, 1951 ~ March 16, 2021 (age 69)

Obituary

Patricia Victoria Hogan, age 69, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021. She was born on August 29, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York to Gilbert Walker and Ann Jackson. She married her first love, Lamont Hogan, in November of 1970 who preceded her in death in 1989. Later in life, she remarried her new love, Gordon Ray Barnes.

Patricia was educated and obtained her Associate's Degree from Kingsborough Community College. Patricia was a devout Christian who loved to love on people. She was a humble servant of God and to all who needed her. She cared for everyone - friends, family, even strangers. Her hands, mind, and body were rarely still unless she was praying to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Professionally, Patricia maintained leadership roles at various jobs to care for her two children, but she was blessed with a greater gift and that was the gift of caring. Following her spirit and entrepreneurial drive, Patricia became the owner of her own business - known as "Kidz Way Day Care".  This career suited her servant heart. When starting the business she said "I lost my mother at a very young age so I want to be a mother figure to children whose parents needed assistance." Additionally, Patricia helped raise her grandchildren, adopted three foster children, one niece, and cared for Developmentally challenged elderly women in her home. Patricia truly lived her life as a dedicated servant of God and all who called upon her.

Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

Patricia is survived by her two children Tamika Hogan-Smith and Corey Barnes; son-in-law Andrew Smith; daughter-in-law Tabbatha Barnes; grandchildren, Victoria Hart, Anyla Hart, Nakai Martin, and Bryce Barnes (expected in June 2021), Quaran Lopez-Barnes; 5 great-grandchildren Ziah Kinzer, Chase Keech, CamRyn Keech, Delilah Murphy, Denim Murphy; her brothers Collin Young, Mychael Young and Carl Young; sister-in-law, Maria Young; Nieces Kim Walker, Dominique Harvin, and Sheron Hogan; nephews Donald Holmes, Terryl Foster, and Jason Walker; her ex-husband Gordon Barnes; as well as a host of cousins, other family members, and friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
