It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved husband, son, father, brother and grandfather Manuel Alberto Zuñiga on Friday August 2nd, 2019.

Manuel Alberto Zuniga was born on December 9, 1959 in San Jose, Costa Rica to Maria Isabel Zuniga and Manuel Riotte Padilla.  At the age of 7 Manuel moved to NYC with his mother and resided in the Bronx. He lived there for several years with his mother and younger sister Maribel Martinez until moving to Brooklyn. In Brooklyn he met the love of his life and mother of his children Sonia Yorleny Barthley at a family party. They married in 1985 and shortly there after welcomed a beautiful daughter that Manuel proudly named Natasha Maria Zuñiga. They grew their family and had first born son Emmanuel Alberto Zuñiga followed by their last pride and joy Christian Martin Zuñiga.

Manuel enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. He was generous, kind, funny. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Once his children were older life got all the much sweeter when Natasha and son in Law Johanfry Lopez had his first and second grand daughters, Johanna Bella Lopez and Jocelynn Mia Lopez. He loved calling them daily to facetime. He loved talking about visiting them in New Orleans and most recently, he was overjoyed with the anticipation of his first grandsons birth Joseph Johanfry Lopez.  His heart was always filled with joy after speaking and spending time with his children and grand children. He loved watching soccer and rooting for Costa Rica. His favorite past times included going to the movies with his sons Emmanuel and Christian. He loved exploring the city and finding new places to eat. He was fascinated by asian culture and it was his favorite cuisine.

Manuel was full of energy, always joking and loved life. He was truly cherished by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Sonia Barthly , daughter and sons, Natasha, Emmanuel and Christian, mother, Isabel Maria, sister Maribel Martinez grandchildren, Johanna and Jocelynn and Joseph, son in law Johanfry Lopez, niece and nephew Hennessey and Nathan and brother in law Roberto Martinez.
