Dorothy Teresa Jaselnik was born on Aug 6, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Johana and Karl,
and sister to Charles and Jeanette.
As a young adult she worked as a secretary for a Dutch shipping company. At the age of 21 she married
Edward F. Michelich and lived on 56 th street in Brooklyn raising two sons, Paul and David, both of whom
reside today in North Carolina. She was very active in the PTA during her sons’ school years and also
cared for her mother and aunt. As her sons got older she worked as a dental receptionist/assistant.
After her husband’s death Dorothy moved to Lakehurst NJ and spent 11 years volunteering and traveling.
She then moved to Cary, North Carolina to be closer to family and continued to volunteer at a local library
and hospital. She had a huge passion for cooking, especially for family and friends, and always had
plenty of leftovers to share.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul and Dave and their wives Lauri and Lesley, grandchildren Amanda,
Ian, Eric and Kara and great grandchildren Lyla, Ella, and Amelia. She is also survived by her sister
Jeanette Del Pilar. Mom was blessed with good health for most of her life and was beloved by her family.
Dorothy passed away at the age of 91 on May 21, 2018 in Cary.
